Oh Happy Day!
This morning while doing the breakfast dishes, I heard a rather raspy meow. It sounded like Cleo! I quickly turned off the water and leaned toward the open window calling “Here kitty, kitty, kitty…” I heard him again!
Looking below the window, I saw him crouched by the tree. I grabbed my shoes, put Lei in her kennel, and as I passed the front door, I grabbed the food container. Shaking it and calling to Cleo softly, I knelt down on the dirt outside.
He came out of the woods and walked over to me. Amazed that he was alive, I gently scratched him, received a head-bump and proceeded to pick him up. He is fine, he is alive, he ate like there was no tomorrow. It has been almost a month since last spotted, and he may still be ill. But he looks well fed, so I am hopeful he was able to hunt to keep alive.
I can’t believe he is really here! I wonder what cat we buried on our property when we thought it was him? I wanted to bring him inside, but I know better. He will soon be twelve years old and yes, this cat definitely has nine lives!
