I am not sure where I am going with this website. This is my first-ever blog website, so it is new territory.
Originally, I set this domain up with the intention of filling it with revelant content about feral cat behavior. Then my friend Anne, convinced me to start a blog, as it is all the rage. So we will see.
A brief intro-
I have been living with ferals and strays now for over 25 years, which is half my life (almost). In that timeframe, I have learned how to set aside my expectations and allow these cats to be who they are, independent and free spirits. I specialize in bottle babies (orphaned kittens) and abused older ferals. A cyber-friend and I started www.kitten-rescue.com for people who are confused when they find an orphaned kitten or are left with a motherless litter.
That’s it for now, I have work to do. I am sure I will blog later
Help! my boyfriend and i have just moved in together. we tried to introduce my 2 cats to his 2 cats, but now my cats just attack his cats whenever they are in the same room..my cats have teamed up and started an all out war….his less agressive cats are indoor/outdoor, they are afraid to come into the house. I’m afraid they may run away altogether…what do we do? these are all feral cats, but were adopted young. any any any advice you might have.
It sounds like several issues have developed. Either the cats were put together to quickly causing territorial issues, or your home isn’t large enough for four cats. If they are indoor/outdoor cats they might tend to run off if the stress in the home isn’t relieved. Are your cats indoors only? Indoors cats react negatively to indoor/outdoor cats because of the scents they bring in with them.
Your cats need to be isolated from the other two cats behind a pet proof screen door until the two sets can learn to get along with each other. I recommend the following books:
Cat vs-Cat by Pamela Johnson Bennett
Outwitting Cats by Wendy Christensen
Also recommend using Feliway Comfort Zone room diffusers in your home, making sure the cats share absolutely nothing, no food bowls, litter pans or beds. Put in several cat condos and cat posts so the cats can get off the floor and onto other levels and be more comforted. Also keep your stress level down-
hello - I just found your blog and was wondering if I could contact you via e-mail - we have four cats all from our backyard…the last two ferrals are settling in after almost two years inside but one of them will still not let me get withing three feet of her. I could ask a ton of questions for your expertise, lol…I will not take advantage…but if I could somehow contact you (not sure to contact you in general on this blog) and get your feedback I would so appreciate it…currently having litterbox troubles also…anyway, if not I understand…thanks so much, Kathleen
