It sounds like several issues have developed. Either the cats were put together to quickly causing territorial issues, or your home isn't large enough for four cats. If they are indoor/outdoor cats they might tend to run off if the stress in the home isn't relieved. Are your cats indoors only? Indoors cats react negatively to indoor/outdoor cats because of the scents they bring in with them.

Your cats need to be isolated from the other two cats behind a pet proof screen door until the two sets can learn to get along with each other. I recommend the following books:

Cat vs-Cat by Pamela Johnson Bennett
Outwitting Cats by Wendy Christensen

Also recommend using Feliway Comfort Zone room diffusers in your home, making sure the cats share absolutely nothing, no food bowls, litter pans or beds. Put in several cat condos and cat posts so the cats can get off the floor and onto other levels and be more comforted. Also keep your stress level down-

Help! my boyfriend and i have just moved in together. we tried to introduce my 2 cats to his 2 cats, but now my cats just attack his cats whenever they are in the same room..my cats have teamed up and started an all out war....his less agressive cats are indoor/outdoor, they are afraid to come into the house. I'm afraid they may run away altogether...what do we do? these are all feral cats, but were adopted young. any any any advice you might have.
