Returning Home
We left to go see my parents. Because of all the animals, we couldn’t stay gone long. We were only gone for 28 hours. I completely cat-proofed the entire house. All the cabinets, counters, bookshelves, and tops of dressers were cleared off. All breakables put aside. Plenty of food and water were left for them both in the enclosure and in the house. The litter pans were all cleaned, and I thought I covered the bases fairly well.
This morning when we woke up, we were sitting on the couch. Oliver was lying in the corner by the lamp when suddenly there was a “zzzzst” sound and a blue and white flash! The cat squealed and ran off and I went to look. One of the feral cats had, in our absence completely eaten through the cord of the lamp right at the base of the lamp itself! All 12 cats’ mouths were checked, none have burns in their mouths, so I have no idea which cat is responsible.
