Most people welcome Spring

It is time of growth, and rebirth. The celebration of all things living, yet in my world it also brings an influx of emails from confused people who are finding days old kittens with no idea of what to do next to save the wee ones. I just received an email from a gal in the UK who has a 5 day old kitten she found. This wee one hasn’t eaten in two days, and I doubt when she gets my email, I don’t think this little one will be around to try and save.

I receive emails from all around the world- it boggles my mind really. People in Africa, Scotland, I had a soldier in Afghanistan contact me. Innocent lives just left in places unimaginable and people stumbling on them and trying their best to do what’s right, to right the wrong done to the tiny creatures.

Sometimes the Lord shines through and kittens live. Tank- the kitty the soldier found now rides in Scott’s rucksack! The kitten in Hawaii now has a palatial home to live in and all the mice he could possibly wish to chase across the floor. I am grateful that Tania and I formed kwww.kitten-rescue.com and I miss my old online partner so much. She took her life several years ago. An awesome rescuer of kittens in Australia, she was unable to find the tools to rescue herself.

So the website exists and is found by the kind souls who find themselves at a loss as to what to do next with a tiny life found in their day.

Please offer prayers for the kitty in the UK that he/she can survive the odds and grow to be the magnificent cat who will be loved by the woman who found her alone and abandoned in a nest of weeds.

  1. Don’t underestimate the positive power you have on animal lovers! 🙂 A lot of people just don’t know what to do when they find feral kittens.. I know I was baffled when I found out we had a huge influx of kittens. However, being the animal lover that I am, I searched for a feral rescue to help me. Last count we had spay/neutered over 12 cats, most females! These people who are contacting you have their hearts in the right places! Instead of being cruel or indifferent, they are seeking help.. Props to them! 🙂 Many prayers going out to the kiten in the UK!

  2. The reason I created kitten-rescue.com is in the 1970’s during my first marriage, we had a beautiful samoyed named Tasha. We lived briefly in Anaheim, California and she needed lots of excercise. Our apartment was quite small and on the second floor. I would walk her daily in the wooded park near our home.

One morning, she dashed off the leash and went over to an old log and started barking excitedly. I went over to fetch her and looked inside and saw five days old kittens clustered together (eyes still closed)

I didn’t really know what to do, gathered them up in my sweater, took them home and spread a towel on the kitchen counter. I put a light on them for warmth they were wet and dirty. I filled the sink with just a little bit of warm water and was going to bathe them and dry them off.

Our phone rang and back then phones were all land lines, so I had to walk across the kitchen. It was my boss and it was perhaps a 20 minute phone call. My back was to the kittens. After I hung up and returned back to the counter, all the kittens had fallen into the sink and drowned in just inches of water.

I fell apart and it was weeks before I could even get through a day without crying. The guilt was tremendous. I vowed to learn all I could about the baby kittens and should the opportunity present itself, I vowed to God to share all I knew with anyone who needed it.

I had grown up with cats and kittens, but back then, the momcat was always in the picture and she did all the work. If Dad brought home an abandoned kitten it was always older. There was little information about what to do with the days-old kittens, the preemies, the genetic misfits (the result of inbreeding).

So that is why kitten-rescue is my labor of love. To stop someone from making the same mistake I did so many years ago and give them a guideline and a path to follow to bring these kittens back to health.

There are a lot of kittens scampering around thanks to that website as well as a lot of tears shed and shared for those who couldn’t make it. At least, kitten-rescue gives them a fighting chance.

  3. Are you sure Tania took her own life?? Please tell me that’s not true!!! 🙁 please email me.. I know where she was 2007-2009.
