Departure

This morning at 2:05 a.m. the little creampoint kitten went on to a better place. My hope is he is romping in the tall grasses of heaven and he has found the lap of a special little boy. Jeremy, I bet by now, you have a lot of feline company. I hope all of you know how much I love you and how much I fought to save you. Sometimes, though, the germs are smarter than modern medicine and nature will indeed take her course.

Charlie is better although still not eating as he should. I found he likes the gravy of the new meow mix canned food (ugh) I hate that junk food for kitties but have found when they won’t eat anything else, they will eat meow mix wet. I pilled Cole today and got bit for my trouble. That is also a part of working with this gang, restrain them, make them feel threatened in any way and they will strike. Regardless of how much they have bonded with me or how much time we have spent together.

Today is Thanksgiving and it will only be a turkey for us. The rest of the monies went for kitty pills, vets and cat food. That’s okay- both of us are losing weight and it is silly to pile our table with food and overeat and gorge ourselves, when so many in our community go without anything on their plate.

My arm aches where Cole bit me- since he just bit me 5 minutes ago, the ache is unusual. He must have hit a nerve or something. He got me on my wrist. I guess the cats won’t be the only creature here on antibiotics.

  1. My heart aches with you each time you have to say Good-Bye. You’re certainly doing a superhuman job with these dear cats & kittens. (Right now my cat Tiger is snuggled in my arms between me and the keyboard) My prayers are with you and Mike on this Thanksgiving Day. May your hearts be filled with thankfulness despite the tears.

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High!” Psalm 92:1
