Passive-Aggressive Franklin

Here he is- beautiful and at this moment in his life, highly unpredictable

Decided because he is such an odd-colored cat, I will give him a unique name and instead of Franklin, I will call him Gump.

  1. I think with him, it is genetic. I have found that these odd-colored cats/kittens seem to have behavior issues that others don’t. Suspect he is inbred. Talked to Connie (the caregiver) yesterday and she said that since Charlotte has had him, he has been like this. She called him “rowdy.” It’s a bit deeper than rowdy but the collar is helping. I have an ad up for his adoption- but the subject line is passive aggressive kitten up for adoption. I need someone who understands that kittens can suffer from PTSD and other maladies just like people. If I don’t find that person, I will continue to work with him slowly and hopefully stop his demons.

What is interesting to me is as hostile as he is to people, that doesn’t translate over to the other cats. He hisses at them, but he doesn’t want to not be among them. He screams bloody murder if I put him in even my largest room or largest cage. He is as quiet as toast when he is let out with the others. I suspect some of the older cats here will be schooling him soon- 🙂

  2. I look forward to updates on Franklin and his behavior. I volunteer with a small rescue organization and helped with a hoarding situation. A several months old kitten had been living in a tiny carrier since it was 5 weeks old. Newspaper lined the carrier for elimination along with his food. He was a terrible biter and hand attacker. I kept him to try all I could to get him to a point where he could be adopted. Two years later he is still with me because he is so unpredictable and we have bonded during all my time spent with him. He is better, not normal, but he and I have a balance that we make work. I have learned his body language and he can still be unpredictable. He can be a lap cat and sleep peacefully under the bed covers and then become a Dr Jekyll, Mr Hyde cat personality. He does at times become aggressive with my other cats, too. Hoping Franklin finds a peaceful balance that works for him.
