Some people defy description

(Shaking my head here) I just got a call from a lady who has three, 3 month old kittens and she is looking to “get rid of them.”  GRRR I hate that term. Anyway, talking to her although she speaks broken English, she tells me she had 6 kittens, but she ran out of money to feed them, so she put three of them outside her home and told them to “Go Hunt” then she stopped feeding those three. She said that three weeks later, she went outside and found them all dead on her stoop- said they were really skinny and wanted to know why they didn’t hunt!

So- I am going to take her remaining three kittens and am waiting for her to call me back to tell me she has captured them in carriers. Supposedly, they love her and run in the house. I really didn’t want to do any more kittens for quite awhile and have been in prayer over this whole non-profit thing for weeks- but sometimes God pulls me back into it and if I don’t take these babies- God is the only One who will know what will happen to them!

  1. Wow, what a stupid woman she must be. It’s a wonder she can feed herself, never mind cats. I can see that three more kittens aren’t what you need right now, but I have a feeling they won’t fare well in their current home.

  2. I am so sad for the three kittens she put out. They must have suffered terribly. I know this is not in your plan, but if you don’t take them she’ll probably do the same thing again.

  3. oh ya, when I met with her yesterday- she told me she was going to “put them out and make them hunt!” I tried to explain to her that kittens don’t hunt on command- they learn from their mom’s how to hunt although they instinctively have some hunting abilities, she fine tunes them for the little ones so they can survive. But, starving cats cannot hunt. It takes a cat hours of patient stalking to bring down prey. She has the mom and dad too all intact in her home. They are Siamese and beautiful. She is supposed to turn them over to me today sometime. Again, we don’t need any more traffic here at the sanctuary but leaving them with her is not the answer either. She kept saying she sells kittens (probably only the ones who are Siamese though) These babies are NOT Siamese by any measure so they are pretty much worthless in her eyes.

  4. If she gets difficult, you may want to let her know that whether she knew it or not, she committed a crime by abandoning and starving those kittens to death and you could report it to the police. Hopefully, she’ll just give up the cats without issue and get out of the breeding business.
