Morning Surprise~~

This morning, while feeding, I heard a familiar meow in the bushes. I whirled around to see a black kitty (Salem) rolling over and over on her back begging me to pet her! Whoever got hit on the road yesterday, was not part of our clowder. At feeding time all blacksĀ  have been accounted for. I did post on FB lost pets about the girl who got hit. She showed all signs of being well cared for and someone is missing their kitty. I am glad it wasn’t Salem but sad that someone else is also feeling the loss of a black cat.

  1. I’m sorry for the cat who was killed, but Salem was able to use one of her nine lives that time. Good for her! I’m glad whoever died had you to look after her after her end, the poor cat. Godspeed, unknown cat.

  2. awww so happy you stil have Salem with you, I am sure was a very pleasing surprise. But so sad for the loss of a beloved black kitty to some family, it was kind of you to reach out to let the family know. but YaY Salem

  3. We have had feral cats since 2009 when Tank showed up. As a bulletin was sent out to all pregnant cats…we had baby kitties show up in the backyard when they were able to leave Momma to run and play. .Fast forward to today. We hae worked with wonderful Feral organization to TNR back to us…we have 17 right now but a total of atleast 35 have come to us. I am looking for help to understand them more and more. I love everyone so much…over the years they have got closer and are so loving and precious but when visitors come they scatter. We are retired but both of us them so. Wish we had land like you.
my question we have had gone for 8 months and a family has stayed in our house to take of them. I dont know our future. Do cats transfer easily? I miss them and grieve for them I need to get some good advice encouregement. And get a grip on my emotions. You sound secure and adaptable to loss yet living and kind.

  4. Hi Graham,

When you say that you have been gone for 8 months have you moved and want the cats to be brought to you? Are you in a position to have that many cats at your place- because you will have to contain them in some fashion for at least a month until they figure out they are in a new home. Most people give up early and let the cats out of the cages, carriers, shed or wherever they are- feeling “sorry” for them way before they should be released and then the cats are gone like the wind. If you know they are being well taken care of where they are currently- it is much easier on the cats to leave them be. But, if you know that eventually this care will fade away and the cats left to fate- then making preparations for this move should start immediately because it all takes time. I am not sure what type of advice you need- but you can reach me at catsatrisk@comcast.net where I will be happy to give you all the assistance I can long-distance.
