there sadly arent any feline specialists around here, but the vet said with some kitten appropriate food, dewormer, and lots of warmth and fluids she should be fine. We're pretty sure it's a girl, the vet thinks so too at the moment. :)

We got the first dose of wormer in her, and she'll be due for another in a week. they think she's around 5 weeks old, and she only weighs 9 ounces. But we're working on fixing that, and getting her cozy here in her new home.

I think we may be naming her Mya. She's very sweet, and loves to cuddle.

Congratulations to Piper and Simpson!
Purpletabby, that baby looks so sad! I hope your vet can help. If it is a boy, I'll share the name I have on reserve for my next boy cat...Reiko! I love that name! It will make him a strong survivor!
Best of luck!

they actually said that they were in a box dumped on the doorstep...we live in a reallllly small town, where the petstore doesnt even normally carry cats, they're more of a fish store in actuality.

They were quite unhappy that the humane society of the area couldnt take in anymore, and the shelter here is a kill shelter.... I'm under the impression they were truly dumped, thought I do wonder what happend to their mother. Apparently I wandered in for "instant ocean" salt for my hermit crabs not too long after they were dumped.

I dont think we have a feline specialist anywhere near here, that I know of...being a small ky town. I will definately check though. In the lack of a specialist, we'll definately be making our trip to the vet this afternoon, for whatever help they may be able to offer.

I would for sure get this kitten to a feline specialist pronto. Being from a pet store means it was in a kitten mill. It could have a number of bad things going for it, or it could just be wormy, have giardia, or coccidia. But you need a feline specialist (not a vet) because the FS know how to deal with the little ones. Most vets know 6 months and up really well.

Good luck

we had a new addition to our home yesterday afternoon as well. Poor little emaciated black kitten. It's always so great to hear about other cats finding good homes. Here's a link to the little one we brought in yesterday if you'd like to see
