Safe Travels to All and Merry Christmas

Every year, I make it a point to publish this poem whose author so far remains unknown. It speaks to the heart and carries with it hope that God is still in control despite everything going on-

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, however you say it, however you spend it. Thanks for spending the year with us-

If you look for me at Christmas time
…you won’t need a special star –
I’m no longer just in Bethlehem,
I’m right there where you are.

You may not be aware of me
amid the celebrations –
You’ll have to look beyond the stores
and all the decorations.

But if you take a moment
from your list of things to do
And listen to your heart, you’ll find
I’m waiting there for you.

You’re the one I want to be with,
you’re the reason that I came,
And you’ll find me in the stillness
As I’m whispering your name.

  1. God’s still in control. The fact that we think we are is why things are such a mess. I like that poem. Perhaps it’s as well that its author is unknown, and it can belong to everyone.
