Well Now…

Chandler, this morning, must be feeling better. She growled and hissed at me, charged me when I set food down near her and wouldn’t let me near her. She is acting just like the woman told me is her normal behavior- wild. She is eating a bit of AD so that is a good thing. I’ll just let her get used to her new world and decompress. But she is today, a far cry from the cat I had yesterday that let me bathe her three times without a battle! If I go near her, her growls warn me she means business. Just leaving her alone will show her she is in a good place, no one will hurt her and she will come around in time. I’m glad she is feeling more like herself. LOL

  1. I’m praying that this is her regular behavior. The woman said she has had her since she was a kitten but she has only lived inside the woman’s bedroom all that time with little contact. We don’t as a rule take owned cats but she sounded like a feral cat from the explanation gave which is why I told her I would take her. The woman has never taken good care of this cat besides just feeding her. If she is acting out now because she is more pain- then we are in trouble for it will be weeks before she will relax and let me near her again. I put my harp of hope CD on for her this morning in continuous play and I have my helping hands available to grab up her food and water bowl so no one gets hurt. Basically it’s a grabber outfitted with a small pair of gloves stuffed with batting and sewn shut so I can try and pet an unsocialized cat without injury. She isn’t full feral- she is staying in one spot and growling and swearing at me when I get close. Ferals would be climbing the walls- running the room- and attacking all the time anyone got close. I draped a blanket over the condo where she is hiding to help her feel more secure. She’s just a cat in some discomfort who has been neglected socially- we will see what happens.
