Progress Slow and Steady

She is moving towards being strong enough to endure a second grueling surgery and dental work. We are a week away, please donate if you are able to! Thank you so much!

  1. I have a question regarding the behavior of 1 male. feral kitten to his litter mate female sister kitten.
They got along famously……UNTIL. Almost 1 year old to the exact day…..THEN he started viciously beating her up any chance he got……She would run away and return again & again. Until she never returned at all……. Is this instinct? He was extremely feral while she was very loving. Their father raised. these 2 in our backyard.. The father did nothing to stop the fighting that was right in front of him. Why did he beat her up?????
I “think” he was trying to tell her to leave and find a mate and raise a family away from our yard. The males saying this is our territory. …..meaning: Father & son..

  2. I would ask if the male has been neutered and the female spayed? If they were not then he was more than likely trying to mount her while she was in heat- which would have caused inbreeding to begin. That is never good with the survival of the kittens low at best. Even though they belonged to the same litter, they don’t always get along and as they grow up, they will challenge each other for mating rights and alpha status. It doesn’t sound to me as if you do trap, spay and neuter which is something you REALLY need to do. If you have already done this, then kudos to you for doing the right thing.
