Please pray

01momma2Both momma’s have been captured- please send up a few prayers that they won’t have their kittens before tomorrow morning! Aurora’s babies have already hit the ground- but the other two are still hanging in there. I just went in an checked on Momma 2- she is pawing the litterpan furiously without trying to pee or poop which is an early sign of labor. 🙁 Both moms are not feral- they are just scared and way to young to be a mom in the first place!

Not Quite Fast Enough

Of the three pregnant females recently dropped on our land, I have managed to trap two of them. I had an appointment on Monday to get the tortie spayed, but she had the kittens before I could get her to the vet! Now she is in full protective mode, but I did manage to take this photo before she moved her kittens to a “safer place.” Don’t worry, they are inside and safe. I am just sad that I couldn’t get her in fast enough but this is the time of year when spays and neuters are going full bore and their calendar was pretty full- She threw five kittens- two torties, two orange and one black.

Kitten in trouble

Really need to turn off my cat magnet- not sure how to do this though. This morning on the way to the vet, I was driving through a residential area when I see this lady soaking the dickens out of this little white kitty!  I stopped the car, rolled down the window and challenged the woman as to why she was doing this? She said the kitten showed up two weeks ago, “no one wants her.” And they were “trying to drive her off!”  I was so mad, but I kept it in check and got out of my car. I walked over to this 3 maybe 4 month old white, soaking wet kitten and picked her up. I told the woman I rescue and I would take her and get her  into a home. She didn’t say much just coiled up the hose and walked into the house!

I put the kitty in my car (no carrier) and she promptly walked over, lay on my lap and rolled over to have her belly rubbed. She is a pretty girl-she is a flame-point. She is a long-haired girl with blue eyes and she is getting spayed right now. She tested negative and I might have a new home for her tonight- I have to wait until later when the woman calls me back.

Poor thing was soaking wet and smelled to high heaven but who knows what she has been eating recently just to stay alive!

Ok well here she is-01lilsquirt She is home now and inside the stall enclosure which is empty right now.

Jordan has been returned

I don’t know what I do to these cats to make them so unadoptable, but the woman who adopted Jordan just yesterday called before dinner and asked me to come and get her! Apparently Jordan yowled the entire night from underneath the couch…sigh. It was non-stop according to Joan and highly annoying.

Jordan is now sitting on my lap looking quite pleased with herself- the little brat. It would have been a great home, just as the other four would have been that she came back  from. I guess she goes on the unadoptable list unless I can find someone with enough patience to put up with her anxiety attacks until she calms down and trusts others besides just Mike and I.

Pepe Le Phew!

Last night sometime, a car hit a skunk on the road in front of our home. It apparently lost its tail in the collision and made it off the road and died under my car. 🙁  It is always so sad to see wildlife die on the road or on the side, but this enterprising girl, I think was one of the five who I saved years ago). She comes “home” every year to have her babies which is a skunk’s way. So, she crawled under the comfort of my car and passed away.  The smell was tremendous and when I hit the front door this morning, I was bowled over by its intensity. With eyes watering, I followed the source of the smell and found her gone. I had to get her out from under my car and put her in the ditch on the other side of the road so the raptors would find her. I smell terrible- my car reeks- our carport smells. Eight showers later- I still smell her lingering odor.  Thankfully, the barn cats kept their distance and Brandi was in the house so she died in peace. Poor girl. I looked for babies, but they hide them so well and there are so many blackberry bushes right now in our back pastures, I doubt I could find them. Thank God for Nature’s Miracle because I am here to tell you that tomato juice does not work.

Sweet Jordan

01jordy

She has a new home with a very nice elderly woman named Joan. Joan understands that Jordan needs space and time to adjust and has no problem allowing her to do just that. My fingers are crossed that this adoption will work because the home is out in the country and quite magnificent. Jordan will share her space with a 4 month old Russian Blue kitten by the name of Earl (for Earl Grey). Jordan will get a new name as Joan already has a grandson named Jordan and it could get confusing with the young one visits!

On behalf of Sammi and George

I want to thank all of you for making it possible for these two to remain together until the end of their days.  I will be taking his other two cats if he can’t find homes for them, but at least Senior Sammi gets to stay with the guy he loves so much.

Just received this is my email:

To all of you who donated to help us save our Sammy, thank you sooo much.  We love our boy and can’t imagine our family without him.  Thanks again for your generosity.  George & Kelly

Sad start to the morning

As I went out front this morning to feed the porch kitties, I looked out in the road and saw a blackness lying there. One of the recently dumped black cats here has gotten hit on the road. I have my traps set and caught three of them, but the other traps remain empty except for local wildlife or black cats already familiar to me. This one, I couldn’t get to in time. Mike said at least in the last of his days, he had food, water and contact with friendly people and other cats.

Friendraiser…

George, my wonderful cat savvy maintenance man just swung by to talk to me. It appears he is losing his home after a long struggle to try and keep it. He has four cats- one, Sammi is a senior boy. He is so funny- he likes it outside and when he sees George, he runs over and immediately falls down on his back exposing his tummy to be rubbed. The other three cats are younger (one has already been placed in a new home breaking George’s heart) but sometimes you just have to roll with it.

George really wants to keep Sammi. He knows that because Sammi is a senior, the chances of him finding a new home are pretty slim. The new landlord will charge him a one-time pet fee of $300.00 if he brings Sammi to the new place. George only has so much money right now and the $300.00 isn’t going to happen.

I told him, I would put the word out and see if we can raise it for him. I have seen the relationship between these two and it is not something that should be ending because of a dumb pet deposit. If you could spread the word through social media so George and Sammi can stay together- perhaps between all of us trying- the monies will be raised. George and his family has to move in the next two weeks.

Here is the man of the hour- Sammisammi

Thank you to those of you digging deep. So appreciated! Plus Mike and I talked last night and decided to let George know if he can find someway to build another cat enclosure on our property for his remaining cats, we would let him do so and take care of his cats until they find another home. After all, what’s another cat enclosure between friends? LOL I can’t figure out how to put the settings on the thermometer but we are at $221.00 right now!!!

Stuff nightmares are made of-

The last few days of my life have (in my opinion) been manufactured in hell and left me shaken to my core. I wrote it all out yesterday in a private email and re-reading it over just made me shake my head in disbelief, and I was the one who lived it. It reads like a bad Stephen King novel but it is real not made-up and the victims are four-legged, innocent and no one seems to know what happened to a massive clowder of cats owned by a hoarder. A group of stray and feral cats who vanished virtually overnight. The whole incident is simply unbelievable and there are still so many questions left unanswered.

So this afternoon, I received a package from Amazon and someone (I don’t know who) has sent my newly rescued kittens 6 cases of kitten food! Thank you if you are reading this. You have no idea what a blessing it was for us and how timely the delivery of this blessing was on a really dark day where I found myself questioning the existence of evil and why God would allow such atrocities to occur.

I know I am not saying much and it may seem a bit of an enigma to some and perhaps in the coming days if answers start to reveal themselves, I will expand on this post. But for now- I have nothing else to say, except again Thank You to the kitten food angel-
