This morning even though it was so chilly, I dressed warmly and walked out to the back pasture with Brook. As we stood there in the early light, the fog in tendrils catching the tips of the green grass, the fog was doing a sort of dance. I envisioned this structure to come. This pole barn with it’s welcomed heat beckoning to the cats, rising out of the mist and the pasture surrounded by cat-fencing. I could see in my mind’s-eye the cats in the fields, in the apple trees and out by the creek. I could just see these gentle creatures existing, living safely. No one to hurt them, scare them or worse.

If this comes about it would be such a wonder. To have a sanctuary open 24-7 with an observation deck off the back of the property where people can pull off the road and watch the cats, yet not even be close enough to try to pet them through the wires.

I saw it all and I smiled and yes, and not for the first time in a week, I cried. But these were different tears. These tears were full of hope.

You can Like the project on FB

You can like the project on the Pepsi Refresh page – the FB emblem and I believe that counts as a vote.

You can text 110725 to 73774

Help me make this happen. Tell anyone you know about project and keep voting. These cats need this safe, warm place and maybe I am indeed crazy thinking I can pull this off- but for their sake- I HAVE to try!

  1. Mary Anne,

I”m having a hard time logging on to vote.. I tried to sign up but it wouldn’t let me.. I tried to vote on facebook and again it wouldn’t let me.. Anyone else having this problem?

  2. This is how I have to do it. I registered on the website. On the PepsiRefresh main page at the bottom left corner is a tab that says login or register. I hit login then am taken to a page that says is this a facebook login or login with Pepsi. I login with pepsi they then ask for my email and password and I have to prove I am not spam which is a bit of a drag. Once I do all of this, I can vote for my project.

You can always call them- they are so nice on the phone- you will find the contact number on the FAQ page-

    Thanks for letting me know!

  3. Hi Mary Anne,

Do you have a facebook page for the rescue that would increase visibility and hopefully donations and votes? It’s a great way to get word out about votes for the Pepsi contest, and you could share your blog posts on the page, thus increasing readership.

I know Cover in Cat Hair and Winged Cat Rescue (GA) and other rescue sites have such a set up and they seem to have alot of exposure.

    Just food for thought!
