Another adoption

A little girl who will turn 13 tomorrow will find to her surprise her parents have given her a loving black cat for her birthday.

Vaughn went to a new home today and right now he is in the parent’s bedroom waiting for the big surprise in the morning when the girl returns from an overnight trip to find him in HER bedroom.

When I took him over to meet part of the family, he showed no fear of his new surroundings and settled down underneath the drapes near the air conditioner! Smart kitty it is 103 degrees today!

I was impressed with his new home, there are no other animals (except a gerbil) and no expectations of getting any more animals in the future. He went over in the carrier without a hitch and I will check in on him in a few days. I hope that Melinda will be as thrilled with him as her parents are and I wish him a long, happy life with this little girl.

  1. Vaughn with his very own Human!!! how great is that for him. He will get plenty of scritch’s and love. Congrats to them both.

  2. I heard from the mom and she is thrilled. Said the surprise was wonderful for melinda who told her parents recently she wanted a big, black fluffy kitty. I didn’t have a big fluffy kitty but I had a big fluffy cat. Mom said Vaughn is hiding under the bed but suspect that is because the house is full of screaming partiers (teenagers) Just a guess though- LOL Told her if she had any problems just to let me know. They are going to change his name to Blackie.

  3. Vaughn, aka Ninja was my cat for the last 4 years. He definitely is skeptical of teenagers because of some trauma in his past. I would definitely not change his name again. I am seriously worried about him right now. I had to give him up just a month and a half ago. I hope he is okay. He really is scared of kids/teens and does much better with adults. I hope I didn’t make a huge mistake.

  4. Julie,

Vaughn is doing great, he sleeps with the little girl at night now and has pretty much taken over the house. I am sorry you believe you made a huge mistake in bringing these cats to me, but they are both loved and in a home where they are the only pets. They are happy, they are eating, playing using the litter pan and the family decided to keep Vaughn’s name the same. I tell everyone who adopts from me that I will take these cats back anytime no question if there are problems. There are no problems, both owners are thrilled with the new additions to their homes. I can’t keep every cat I take in- if I did that I wouldn’t be able to help the next one. Doesn’t matter how much I love the cat, or how long I have had him/her if the proper home comes up and I approve of the situation the cat goes to a forever home. They deserve that, not to live here with all the others and not get the full attention they deserve.

  5. Mary Anne,

I am just thrilled that you were generous enough to take Julie’s cats and find such wonderful homes for them. Julie and I both know how deeply you are committed to the welfare of these cats and would never put them in a bad home. (I think she is just missing her cats, but deep down realizes they are loved and now getting the attention they need.) Of course, you can’t keep all the kitties you get – that would defeat the purpose of helping the future cats in dire need (as you pointed out). And certainly if the chance presents itself for the cat to have a good home – you should take advantage of it. I am very grateful that you were able to find such good homes for Sly and Vaughn and also appreciative of everything you do for all the animals that come into your care. Thank you again for finding good homes for Julie’s cats (and all the others you find as well).
