and not the search engine either! The small kitten that I have had only a few days is in a pretty bad way. After the vet visit, it was determined that her sphincter is open all the time. The poop is coming out formed and she has no clue that it is even back there! It is not diarrhea, it is formed poo. The vet at first thought it might be an ininception- but says the colon walls are way to thick to support that theory.

Bottom line is if it is still going on by Monday, I have to take her in again and make a major decision. Do I pay for an expensive surgery so they can try and find out what is going on- or do I put this cutie-patootie down?

The put panalog ointment where the sun don’t shine and coated her bum with desitin all the while, poop just keeps pouring out of her poor bum- poor kitty- and the stench is overwhelming.

But the bright spot is this is not a nasty contagious disease- the bad part is they don’t KNOW what this is having never encountered it before.

If you can help me raise the funds- please click the donate button. Prayers for Google as well, she is pretty miserable and yes, she has a voracious appetite still-

God bless all of you- I have to run to an adoption

Here she is just two days ago- (look at those sunburned ears!)

  1. Oh I hope the sweetie can be saved. Now when she’s just found a place to be safe. I sent something for you and her.

  2. Thank you! I just returned from adopting out Napoleon. He is in a wonderful home now and it will take him a bit to figure that out. On the Google front, the frustrating thing is I don’t know how to help her. I know what I can’t do is give her a butt bath and touch her rectum as she is burned on the rectum and inside. I will be going upstairs every hours and removing the stool where it falls and try to find something to neutralize the stench she is currently making. Now I understand why I got bit last night when I gave her a bath- the vet said when he shone his light in her rectum he could see clear through and it was all blood red and inflamed! Poor kitty. This one knocks me on my rear. I just hope she recovers because she is such a sweet kitty. The vet doesn’t think she will recover though- he doesn’t really know what to think.

  3. Is this at all similar to Manx syndrome or could it be treated the same way?

Love ‘n hisses cross-posted about a tailless young cat that had a protruding colon. “He had what’s called a coloplexy where they go in through the abdomen – hence the sutures in his tummy area – & gently pull the colon back in & suture it to the body wall to stabilize it. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. He’s on a high fiber diet, pain meds, & a stool softener. Thankfully, he’s a good eater & we won’t have to worry about his developing anorexia.”

  4. oh no…..we hope maybe they can help her. but if not, PLEASE remember that you are doing the best you can – and helping her across the Bridge is better than anything that would have happened to her otherwise……

  5. I am so sorry. Did the vet consider waiting awhile longer, a week or two, to see if it gets better on its own? I know that an injury to the tail, tail base or pelvis can cause this. Maybe it’s due to the other infections and stress…..possible? Prayers that she heals on her own.
