Bristol

This cat just breaks my heart. She lays in one spot all day and can hardly move because her skin is glued by those mats. I can’t pet her because she is so matted there is not one part of her that isn’t matted and those mats hurt. One vet tech explained that when they are so tight against the skin, any touch makes the kitty think her skin is on fire. God only knows what lies under those mats.

CATS Inc is $60.00 shy of covering this unexpected procedure of putting her under to shave her completely on Weds so if anyone can help in any way- it would be appreciated. I am hoping after Weds Bristol will emerge a happier, healthier kitty- but only time will tell-

At least she chose the bed as her spot of choice! You can see her paws in the air kneading the clouds- she does this all of the time even though her claws are no longer there- 🙁

  1. I’m still voting in the challenge, and will send a small amount to help Bristol. That was a load of cats that was adopted in the last few days!

  2. I am voting daily, too. You helped me via email years ago when I rescued my first of many feral cats. Sending $40 for Bristol…hope it helps toward getting her feeling better. My prayers for you and all you do.

  3. I just donated $20. Hope for good news on Bristol and can’t wait to see her mats gone.

  4. Darlene- it thrills me to no end when you posted that I helped you when you rescued the FIRST of MANY feral cats. Bless YOU for continuing to make a difference for the strays. My hope is in blogging about the true side of rescue, it will inspire others to reach out of their comfort zone and save that starving, abused or neglected cat running the neighborhood.

I also just checked on all the kittens. ALL of them (except Rayne) are eating and drinking. Rayne has to get adjusted to a 14 month old boy and a yappy dachsund- but she is playing with the husband and fetching straws so I suspect in a few days she will be eating as well-

  5. Makes me happy to see Cyclone’s bachelor pad put to good use; another needy cat finds a safe space! Here’s a bit for Bristol, hope it helps.

  6. Katie- you made me cry making a donation in the memory of Cyclone- but they were good tears. He is still making a difference in people’s lives even after he departed-

  7. I see that you have met your $60, but I sent a bit more since I know there are always other expenses. I hope Bristol is one the mend soon!

Since you already got a Cyclone shout out, I will make ours in memory of Shell and all of the rest that you and your awesome vet have shown mercy. You do good things MA! 🙂

  8. Maria,

Thank you and yes, Shell was also so special to us. I still carry a great deal of guilt about Shell because I had no idea that her throat was so riddled with cancer. Had I known that early on- I would not have asked her to bless our life another second. But the vet and I did not discover this until after she passed and we were looking for answers as to why she wouldn’t eat. Even giving her pill she had a form of lock-jaw and you couldn’t get her to open up her mouth very wide.

  9. Oh my gosh! I had not seen that update about poor Shell. Poor baby. Try not to be hard on yourself. You didn’t know. You help so many kitties! Hugs to you and Mike!
