Return from second trip

Just got back from a fast/furious return trip to California to get my mom out of the mess my sisters left her in. I am emotionally frayed and exhausted and will fill in the blanks later. But- I have Calico, so I was able to fulfill my dad’s dying wish that I take her.

  1. Good for you! Physically, you must be exhausted. Spiritually, so bright and happy. You could not have left your mother in the situation you described (Enrichment by batting a balloon around, I mean, come on, really?) You would not have slept well at night if you had not done this.

And if you want a delightful read about what a good facility is like, look for “A Dog Walks Into A Nursing Home” by Sue Halpern.

  2. Hugs and prayers to you and your mom. Thank you for rescuing her. You both have been in my thoughts since hearing of her ‘incarceration.’

  3. My mom is in her early 80s so like your mom, she is younger than the other residents in her assisted living facility. Luckily we found her a nice apartment with 1 bdrm, large kitchen and living room and even her own laundry room! I’m so happy that she and my dad had the foresight to get LTC insurance years ago. I hope that you are able to find a nice situation for your mom. She’s had enough stress.

Good luck with Calico too. You never know, in a new environment her personality may change for the better and she’ll actually like your place.
