Grace has company

I have no clue what took Mannix from us tonight, but at late night check, I found this one month old in his bed. He was gone. He will be the second of the park litter kitties to go to the Bridge unexpectedly. He was fine a few hours ago. I was cuddling with him on the bed and I have no idea what happened. There isn’t a mark on him- he just has passed away. I hope it is my over-tirend brain, but Paris his sister looks punky to me. I took her temp- she is normal- but she just looks off….:( I’ll say it again- I HATE Kitten Season.

  1. You know, I have taken these babies to the vet FIVE times. I keep telling Steve that something is wrong with them. I kept getting told there is nothing wrong. They are not thriving, they are just surviving. I am afraid his littermates will soon follow him and short of a miracle, there is nothing I can do about it. They are eating, drinking and dying. No fever, a bit of lethargy but nothing else noticeable just a “look” I see in their eyes.

  2. Sometimes they just fade on you. They have a name for it, fading kitten syndrome. No explanation, no warning, they just go. You do your best and you love them and then you cry and remember them when they go.

  3. I just know the walk to the bridge must be easier if the kitten, or old guy, is warm, well feed and safe. Most of us really can’t ask for too much more than that. I am sorry for his passing but I know you did the best for him and Well, of them.
    Yea, kitten season sucks!

  4. I know the syndrome well. I wrote an article on it and posted it on my website felinexpress.com as well as on kitten-rescue. It doesn’t make it any easier to accept. Looks like Paris is soon to follow her brother and sister- she is fading fast. 🙁

  5. Sometimes, there just isn’t anything you can do. They were likely doomed from birth, with something internal wrong with them.

You gave them love, care, and a warm safe place to live. That is about all you really can do, no matter how long they hang around.

    So sorry.

  6. My heart breaks reading this. You are such a special person to give love selflessly, always thinking of the kitties first.
We each have a path to walk, and the four legged creatures do as well.
Thank you for all you do.
