The Colony Kittens

Yesterday, Little- the black and white tuxedo kitty from the caretaker’s colony went to a new home! She is living in a beautiful high-end log home in Oregon City with a retired couple. I called this morning and she is sitting on their laps, eating and drinking and last night laid on their bed with them until daybreak. YAY!  The second kitty has been turned back over to the caretakers. Due to the advanced stage of the calici virus, he is unfortunately not adoptable. We would need someone with deep pockets to address his mouth issues and around here- folks will pay more for vet care and dogs then they will for cats. He was missing his buddy, so I decided after talking to a couple cat vets that the best for him would be back where he first came from. His tongue and gums are heavily ulcerated- I will be giving the people the medicine needed to keep the mouth calm but it can’t be cured easily or cheaply.

The two preemies are still being fed every two hours. Their umbilical cords crumbled off this morning but they are not gaining much weight. They are still 3 ozs. They have good appetite. Suspect worms being the reason they aren’t gaining the weight but they are way to small to worm safely yet.

  1. It’s good for Little, but unfortunate for the others. The premature ones will grow under good care, which is what they are getting.
