Guys We Need Your Help

I just got back from a hoarding call was there most of the day. I came back withΒ 20 kittens all pretty much near death from parasites. One of them, a little calico probably won’t last the night. I stopped at my vet to get worming medicine, antibiotics, eye ointment and I got the lecture about the bill. Please if you can send a dollar, send it, if you send a dime, send it. I don’t care. I couldn’t leave these babies at the home and I didn’t take all of them. There are plenty more I had to leave behind. πŸ™Β  I haven’t been home all day- I just got in and bathed and treated everyone. I just wanted to let you know how desperately we need financial help right now.

(The woman’s kittens are all genetically inbred none over 4 months old traced back to the original nine “strays” she fed and let indoors and just kept feeding)Β  I took the sickest of the lot hoping that if I left some of the active kittens behind someone else would take them πŸ™

Thank you for your time-

  1. I don’t have to tell you that the mortality rate in this situation is very high. I just finished out a hoarding case – that guy’s kitten mortality rate was more than 90%. He said, “We just don’t have much luck with kittens.” The inbreeding, ongoing lack of care, parasites, and URI’s tend to finish them off.

Is there any local group that can help you with this? At least to get the adults s/n?

  2. Yes as of tomorrow, there will be other organizations helping out. It was heartbreaking. The man led me into the kitchen and this was after all five of my cat carriers were full. Lying on the floor barely moving, were piles of older kittens they stretched from the fridge to the stove there were so many. I was told they were sleeping- I fear they are dying. πŸ™ I know about the mortality rate and don’t expect many of them to make it to the morning- but the littlest one, the calico after I gave her warming fluids, food and pet tinc and flea treated her- she suddenly revived and started biting my fingers! LOL So I have hope.

  3. I just found your site today and spent the last 2 hours in tears- happy and sad ones. The work you are doing is so admirable- if I had the land and room I would do the same but for now- I will just have to help those who do the work! I’m sending your site to all my friends so we can help out financially. I wish I could say we are wealthy people- but we’ll do what we can!

  4. Sent a little bit. Hope you got it. I have been having re-routing issues with my paypal. Not their problem but mine πŸ™‚

  5. Donations are arriving. I know I have said this before, but thank you for believing in what we do here. I just got home- adopted out three of my kitties! My Aurora girl, my super mom who helped this year feed and care for 21 abandoned babies now has a lovely home with a young girl. Two more mackerel tabbies (4 months old) out the door and now living in a beautiful home (Christmas Tree Farm on 30 acres!)

I just looked at my pet pantry and thought this is a helluva time to be out of kitten food! LOL These babies are so under-nourished and really skin and bones. Right now they are eating Kitty Krack (Fancy Feast) that is the highest protein count I have for them right now. I am also feeding Kitty Chow and goat’s milk-

Now there are only two kittens I am really worried about instead of six. Most of them are eating but with the URI their appetites aren’t where they need to be.

  6. Hurrah for Aurora! I remember her. She deserves a beautiful and love-filled retirement.

As for a donation, I will have something in my PayPal account next week, so I will send you something then. What is wrong with hoarders? Whay can’t they just hoard soup tins or clothes?

  7. I’ll send a Paypal donation today, but may I suggest you update your Amazon wish list? I – and I’m sure many others – are on a limited budget, but could use the points earned via our Amazon-linked credit cards to purchase items for you there. Happy to hear that Aurora has a forever home – what a super mama!
Bless you for taking care of these kittens, and so many others!

  8. Thank you for the suggestion. Once, I get some time to breathe, I will update the list. Needed right now is kitten food- heated pads and trash bags (13 gallon or under heavy duty) Right now I have a MESS of an isolation room to clean up and I am smiling as I type this! They have wrecked the room and it is a joy to see. There is only one kitty I am gravely concerned with. She is a tiny tuxedo and so weak she can’t move off her spot and will pee and poop all over herself then scoot forward until it happens again. I have done all I can do to get her stronger but it is simply a matter of time before she finally gets rid of all the damage the worms, the fleas and the neglect did to her. I am spoon feeding her, giving her meds and fluids and she has wormed her way into our hearts quite quickly. We call her Crinkle. Decided to name them after Charles Dickens characters since it so close to Christmas, plus they are all small miracles.

    “God Bless Us, Everyone-”
