See You Sometime Next Year!

I am unplugging for a few days. Having issues with my computer and Mike is going to try and “fix” it. No offense but every time he tries, he crashes the darn thing. He might have been able to back in the day be the great calibration technician he once was- but these new computers are a far cry from the behemouths he worked on back in the 60’s. Oh well, his youngest son is a whiz at I.T. so worse comes to worse, Dennis will come to the rescue. I am sure part of the problem is cat hair in my computer- Did I say that? How in the world could cat hair be inside my computer! LOL

See ya later guys and Happy Mew Years!

  1. Happy New Year Mary Anne, Mike and furry ones! I hope 2017 is a good one and I hope you can get back on line very soon, we will miss you! Continued blessings for you all!

  2. Happy new year to everyone there. I hope this new year brings health to Mike and to you, continued adoptions of cats and, maybe, fewer rescues because people are becoming smarter about and kinder to animals.

  3. Hello,

I stumbled across your blog and was wondering if you had any advice for my two feral’ s. It’s a mom and daughter pair that I’ve been feeding/sheltering. My predicament is that I live in a rent house and my lease is up at the end of May of this year. I’ll be moving out of state and I don’t want to leave them at the rent house without anyone caring for them. My neighbors aren’t an option to maintain their care after I leave.

Personally, I’d like to take them with me but family/friends don’t think it’s a good idea. I’ve read a few blogs about how it could be possible but not ideal but I wanted to get some advice about it. And if I can’t take them with me what are my other options?

Just some background on them…They’ve both been spayed and had their shots. The mom will let me get near her but not touch (she’ll touch her nose to my hand sometimes but that’s about it) and the daughter won’t let me get near her at all. I have been leaving my front door open in the evenings and they’ll come in and sit/explore the house. So far the longest they’ve hung out is about an hour but any sudden movement will startle them and they run out.

I just want to do what’s best for them and if it’s possible/realistic to take them with me I’d like to try or get them somewhere where I know they’ll be taken care of and looked after.

Thank you ahead of time for any advice/suggestions.
    Fayzeh

  4. If you feel that strongly about taking them with you in the move, then I would do so. I would encourage you to after they are trapped in a humane trap to get help ahead of time with a rescue group who can help you transfer them to a large dog crate (one cat per crate). It is easier for them to be inside a crate versus a trap especially if the trip is going to be over 48 hours. I would set up the traps first before you leave enough in advance to allow them to get comfortable with eating inside the trap (leave the doors rigged so they won’t close). Once they are comfortable, take the props out and you should catch both of them at the same time. Call in the rescue group to do the transfer to crate and always do this transfer in a bathroom (less places for the cats to hide if they do get out). Bless you for caring about these two-
