Two newcomers arrive

Two new kittens are now upstairs. One is a siamese boy (neutered) and the other a mackeral tabby (girl spayed). They were being terrorized by a small breed dog and the owner was scared the dog was going to really harm the kittens, so she called me.

They are not feral (even though the owner said they are) they are just scared and wondering why their world was rocked. The Siamese boy loves to hiss at me but it is all bluff. I have held him and let him know he is safe. The mackeral tabby just likes to hide for now. They are eating like they have never seen food- the gal just shared with me she ran out of cat food three days ago and couldn’t afford to buy more…sigh…but at least they are neutered- and now they will be able to have food all the time for these cats eat better than we do! LOL

  1. The boy seems to be saying “What Now” with his eyes but hers are full of love.

  2. Yes. they are plenty scared. I just de-flead and de-wormed them and now will let them alone for 24 hours so they can decompress. They have plenty of food and water in there, seem to be relatively healthy and so to reduce their scare factor, I will leave them except to bring in canned food three times a day. I think I will call the Siamese mix Emerson and the mackeral girl Glory.

  3. Same mom- probably different fathers. Typical with strays, the females can be taken several times by different toms. Suspect Glory is from a later mating as she is much smaller than Emerson. Once the first litter is ready to be born, all are pushed out ready or not. Was told five in the initial litter these two the only survivors.

  4. The poor cats. I can understand that a person may not have the money to buy food for the cats, but three days without sustenance – I couldn’t watch my pets go a day without it. But she did what was best for them in the end, and called you. Now you have more trouble – and more love.
