Renters Crop

It is so hard to get used to but when I go in the backyard and look over the fence at the next farm, I see 8 pot plants in planters in the renters backyard. I drive down the street now and see people puffing on pipes and bongs just lighting it up. I know that smoking pot has medical advantages especially for people fighting cancer and chronic pain and they use it when battling those with anorexia, but now that it is legal here, I see it all over the place and wonder about the long-term repercussions. I also know the dispensaries are making money hand-over-fist but very little banks are accepting their monies. There is now even pot treatments for dogs and cats dealing with chronic pain.

It’s a learning curve for sure. If kitties nibble the leaves, I wonder if they get high? I saw McGee over there this morning doing his sniff test. If he sprays their plants, I hope they don’t won’t hurt him! Maybe he is just making a peelitical statement?

  1. The politicians and businesses will make money and users will forget their troubles and think that it’s all right because they’re not drinking alcohol for oblivion. It’s something new to play with and because people fought politically to attain the right to use it, it has a halo of liberty. But it’s just another drug.

    McGee has the right idea.

  2. Hi, I’ve been petting a stray cat every morning on the way to school for almost two weeks and sometimes it meows when it sees me. Today morning, it kept meowing at me and walked away from me at first, so I didn’t pet it. I tried to pet it by first touching it’s head then scratching it behind the ears, and it didn’t hiss or growl. After that it walked to its food bowl (someone goes around feeding cats), meowed, made a sound that started with a growl and ended as a meow, and ate and I continued petting it. However, after it was done eating, it turned around and bit my leg, but not hard enough to draw blood. What does that mean? This is also the first time it meowed so much at me. Am I doing anything wrong? The day before I was petting another cat before I pet this one and I’m worried that it’s acting this way because it’s jealous.

  3. Typically stray cats don’t become jealous about anything. It could be the cat is pet aggressive and what that means is when a kitten is born in the wild, and there are no human hands to touch it, no voices to bond with it- human touch can feel strange. Cats have sensors on their back that are quite sensitive and if you accidentally brush across one of those, or their whiskers on their legs, you could get bit.

Meowing can mean so many things- hard to say why the cat was meowing- perhaps he/she wants to come inside and is tired of the outside, or maybe it was just hungry, lonely…Who knows. I would hold off petting this cat though especially if there is biting in the mix. Cat bites are nothing to mess with. Watch the area for swollen, red areas- heat coming up from it and if you see any of that or discharge get to the ER pronto!
